Housekeeper/Cooks are rare these days but why?

We know that all of us love to be pampered, some housekeepers are so good at this, cooking tasty dishes, ironing your precious pieces with care and attention and just making you feel special!. However there are changes in the way they work and the hours, most of all are changing.

Those who work in private homes now have families of their own to care for so the time they can give to someone else is limited. So many homes were staffed from early morning until late at night but now this is impossible so employers are having to look at the hours carefully to see how they can best fit in with the employees needs and theirs.

We also note that those housekeeper cooks with the best knowledge are over 50 and they are lively, full of energy and just great housekeepers but there is a feeling, not always expressed, but there, that those over fifty cannot manage stairs and slow down too much to be helpful in the house. What rubbish! We see wonderful people with references to attest to their skills and know that they would be super in anyone’s home. I urge employers to reap the benefit of all their knowledge and love for the job to give the older housekeepers a chance.. Housekeeper/cooks are even more likely to be great when mature, like fine wine, they develop beautifully and the collection of recipes are massive.I
